Palisades Fire Emergency Update (California)

Starting at 10:30am Tuesday, a quick moving brush fire in the Pacific Palisades broke out. Amidst the dangerous wind and Red Flag conditions, the Palisades Fire has grown to 2920+ acres, and is currently affecting the Pacific Palisades, Topanga Canyon, Sunset Mesa, eastern Malibu, and northern Santa Monica, and surrounding communities. Our office is actively monitoring the situation with updates from first responders and local leaders.

Safety of our residents is the number one priority. Please follow all evacuation orders and instruction from public safety officials — these measures are in place to keep you and your loved ones safe, and cooperation is critical to save lives.

Evacuation orders have been issued for these zones: LOS-Q0767, MAL-C1111, SSM-U010-A, SSM-U010-B, MAL-C111A, RMB-U030-A, TOP-U007, TOP-U008, TOP-U009, TOP-U005, TOP-U006, TOP-U003, TOP-U001, and Topanga west of Tuna Canyon Road.

To unlock all available resources, Chair Kathryn Barger accepted our request to declare a state of local emergency for the Palisades fire, and Governor Newsom’s request for a federal emergency declaration was granted by President Biden. Mayor Bass has also declared a local emergency for the city of LA, which will unlock every resource available across all levels of government. We are thankful for their support and will continue coordinating with local and state leaders as the fire progresses.

Thousands of residents are under evacuation order or evacuation warning, and weather conditions are expected to worsen tonight. If you are told to evacuate, please follow directions of emergency personnel. Do not hesitate to evacuate!

I want to extend our deepest gratitude to the first responders who are working tirelessly to protect lives, property and our community. For those affected by the fire, we are here for you, we stand with you, and we will stay with you as we navigate through this emergency.
